Susan Kramer MP has been appointed by Liberal Democrat Leader Nick Clegg to lead the fight against Heathrow expansion. The move will see the Richmond Park MP leading the Liberal Democrat campaign to stop a third runway being built, and to prevent mixed-mode from being introduced.

Susan Kramer MP commented:

"Heathrow is the most important issue for the long-term future of my constituency, and I am grateful to Nick Clegg for allowing me to shift responsibilities."

"I want to give the issue the focus that will be critical in the next few months as the Government announces its decision. I am certain that the announcement, whenever it comes, will mark the beginning of our biggest fight yet."

Cllr Mike Cox said

"It looks increasingly likely that the government will force through the 3rd Runway on the people of Hillingdon. Appointing Susan Kramer as the Liberal Democrat lead in our fight is excellent news. I have known Susan for many years and she incredibly able and gifted MP with a superb knowledge of transport issues. She will be a real asset to the campaign."
