On Wednesday 5 August Mike Cox proudly joined thousands of Hillingdon residents in Uxbridge town centre to welcome home the troops from Afghanistan. A crowd of 20,000 well wishers cheered members of 63 Squadron Royal Air Force (RAF) Regiment, the Queen's Colour Squadron, as they marched through the town towards the civic centre where the Mayor of Hillingdon welcomed them.

The rain respectfully held back as a helicopter flew overhead as a symbolic gesture and the sun peeked through on the public waving their flags in appreciation for the troops.

Mike Cox commented 'The atmosphere at the parade was full of patriotism and good feeling. It was a proud moment to be at the forefront of the welcoming committee. The hard work and sacrifice of these men will not be forgotten'.
