It is a shame that the bitterly cold weather meant that less than a quarter of Northwood's residents turned out to vote in the by-election caused by the criminal activity of the former Conservative councillor

Alan Prue scored a 4% increase in the vote for the Liberal Democrats while the Conservative vote dropped 10%

Cllr Mike Cox said

"Alan fought a positive campaign on his 10 year record of serving the residents of Northwood. The Conservatives preferred to make untrue allegations about the Liberal Democrats and their achievements.

The real issues of making Northwood a better place to live and work were drowned out in the Tories' bitter tirades. In time, residents will find that the Conservatives' promises were empty and their accusations false.

In all three by elections in Hillingdon this year the Liberal Democrats won second place. We are the effective opposition on Hillingdon Council. We will continue to speak up for the residents of Hillingdon and to hold the Conservatives to account for the way they run our Council."
