The FOCUS Team survey found that 77% of Oak Farm residents back the planned 20mph zone. Transport for London allocated the funds for road safety in Ryefield Avenue after a successful bid by the Oak Farm Residents' Association.

242 local residents responded to the survey organised by Lib Dem Monty Cooke.

Council officers met the Residents' Association to discuss the Council's road safety design. The designed scheme involves:

  • Refuge/traffic islands either side of the dangerous Ryefield bend;
  • A raised mini-roundabout at the junction of Ryefield and Windsor;
  • Improved parking at the Ryefield Avenue shops.

The scheme is likely to be implemented this Autumn, following a full consultation with Oak Farm residents by the Council.

A major concern of respondents to the survey was that of enforcement, asking for traffic warden patrols to stop parking on double yellow lines and police to prevent children playing on roads.
