Hillingdon Liberal Democrats have selected a strong local campaigner, Roy Chamdal, to fight the Townfield by-election.

Mike Cox, Liberal Democrat Leader on Hillingdon Council, said, "I am delighted Roy has been selected. He has a big personality and will be a strong presence on the streets of Townfield. In view of the weak position of the Labour party nationally this election is wide open. Roy would make a great councillor for Townfield ward."

Roy Chamdal said "The chance to fight this election is a real honour for me. There are some big problems in Townfield which I want to help solve. I intend fighting this election tooth and nail and I look forward to showing the local people what Liberal Democrats can do to help residents."
