At the Council meeting on 23rd of November 2006 the Tory leader of the Council Cllr Puddifoot threatened to change the constitution yet again to stifle opposition attempts to ask questions.

Lib Dem Leader Cllr Mike Cox suggested he would ask members of the public to question the administration on his behalf in future to which Cllr Puddifoot angrily responded "You ain't seen anything yet".

Cllr Mike Cox, Leader of the Liberal Democrat group in Hillingdon said

"The Tories have further restricted opposition and backbench rights to challenge the administrations record. It shows an astonishing arrogance and lack of respect for democracy and the constitution."

The new constitution now only allows one question per Councillor per meeting

Previous revisions of the constitution have banned opposition leaders from questioning cabinet and have stopped backbench Cllrs from asking questions at scrutiny unless authorised by the Chair of the meeting (all Tories except one)
