Cllr Mike Cox, the leader of the Liberal Democrats on Hillingdon Council, today visited Warrender School in Ruislip to help the pupils of year five with their geography project on the proposed expansion of Heathrow.

Cllr Cox was invited by the school to speak to the children about why he opposes the third runway.

"I explained both sides of the argument to the children: why BAA wants the expansion to go ahead, and why I and the Council appose it," said Mike.

"They asked me many challenging questions I didn't expect from year five pupils. We spoke about the effects on residents, local transport and wildlife. It is very encouraging to see young children taking such an interest in local issues and the natural environment."
