The Conservative Chancellor George Osborne began today's announcement by setting out the facts. Simply put, we face financial meltdown if we don't act now. And it won't just affect us - if we don't act now, the burden of repaying the huge debt will be placed on our children to repay.

Pete Dollimore has reported the dangerous deep potholes in Marlborough Road to the Council. "The potholes at the south end of the road, near Uxbridge Road, are huge. These deep craters could cause really serious damage to a car's suspension and I have reported it so the Council can get them fixed urgently" said Pete. "I've also asked them to look at other nearby roads while they are there, including Nelson Road and Pole Hill Road. It will be a much more efficient use of our money if they fix ALL the potholes in one visit, and don't have to keep coming back."

In a Channel 4 on-line poll carried out immediately after the debate, Vince out-polled both Alistair Darling and George Osborne.
