Nights Flights cap "small victory" - now abandon third runway plans - Cox

6.50.53pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 28th Jul 2006

Mike Cox has called on the Labour Government to drop plans for a third runway at Heathrow, as plans to end the night flights cap were ditched after two embarrassing defeats in the Lords.

Mike said "The government's decision to retain a cap on night flights is a small victory for common sense and local residents. Local Liberal Democrats would prefer the government to extend the hours to which the cap applies. More importantly the government should abandon plans for a third runway at Heathrow. Local residents will have no peace of mind until they do."
