Cllr Mike Cox - Gazette Article August 20077.18.24pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 1st Aug 2007 One of the issues which unites politicians from all parties in Hillingdon is the fight to stop the Third Runway. Councillors have unanimously backed one motion after another at Council and many of us have walked on one demonstration after another to support local residents. It is therefore staggering beyond belief that BAA have seen fit to issue an injunction against the leaders and members of important organisations who are at the coal face of this fight. Notrag and HACAN are doing vital job to protect us from the avarice's of the big businesses lined up to push through this monstrous development. It is blatant corporate bullying by BAA who are trying to trample over basic human rights. They have justified this undemocratic and dangerous action by demanding respect for passengers rights. They have singularly and consistently failed to respect the rights of local residents. I for one will be attending the Climate Camp and I would encourage as many residents as possible to come along and defy the BAA bully boys and learn about the effects Heathrow has on our environment. Another issue which unites us is of course the fight to save our local hospitals. Recent proposals to take away Mount Vernon's Cancer services are both ludicrous and deeply upsetting. Community Voice have raised a magnificent 52,000 signature petition which will be presented to the Department for Health by our MP's. If you haven't signed then write to the department directly or visit the web site at http://www.supportmountvernon.com
