Hillingdon will play its part in the 2012 games

Liberal Democrats in Hillingdon have welcomed the recommendation that Brunel University, Uxbridge College and Hillingdon Sports centre and athletics stadium should be used as a training camp in the run up to the London Olympics in 2012.

These facilities will be used for training in range of sports from Archery and and Boxing to Volleyball and Wrestling.

Cllr Mike Cox leader of the Hillingdon Liberal Democrat group said, "I am delighted that Hillingdon has been listed in the Pre-Games Training Camp Guide and hope that many countries choose to send their teams to the area to train.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for Hillingdon, which will ensure that the Olympic legacy reaches beyond east London. I hope it will inspire many young people to take an active interest in a whole range of sports.

"I am looking forward to watching and welcoming athletes from all over the world to Hillingdon in 2012."
