Ed will meet the team and say a few words before a quick group photo. It would be lovely to make this photo as big, and colourful as possible, so we can use it in Will's general election campaign.

Lance will then lead the group in a canvassing session in Sheerwater and West Byfleet, where we can speak to voters ahead of our all important Postal Vote weekend. Deliveries will also be available and new canvassers can come along and receive training by a more experienced member.

During this visit, Ed will speak to candidates, visit the mosque, test for local river sewage, tour the Sheerwater regeneration project, meet press and more.

Let's make sure Ed Davey is in no doubt as to the passion and dedication of our amazing local team! See you there!

Party Games: A evening with political playwright, Michael McManus

  • 19 Apr 2024
  • 7.00 pm - 9.00 pm
  • 41 Axminster Road
    Penylan
    Cardiff
    CF23 5AR

We're delighted that Michael has agreed to come to an impromptu 'pizza and politics' evening this Friday (19 May) at 7pm at 41 Axminster Road, Penylan, Cardiff, CF23 5AR.

Michael has been at the heart of British politics for three decades. From his days working for David Hunt at the Welsh Office, where he was part of the team that put the Welsh Language Act onto the statute book, he has seen Westminster from the inside.

Describing himself as a 'protegee of Charles Kennedy', he has written biographies of Joe Grimmond and Ted Heath, for whom he was private secretary for five years. He subsequently spent two-and-a-half years as chief executive of the Independent Press Standards Organisation (previously the Press Complaints Commission).

He is now a playwright and will be joining us to discuss political theatre, the lessons Liberal Democrats can learn from Joe Grimmond, what it was like to work for the "incredible sulk", Ted Heath, and a great deal more.
