Policing

Responsibility for Policing rests with The Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority but Liberal Democrats believe that the Council should maximise opportunities for working with the police locally to maximise public safety and minimise crime.

Liberal Democrats would

  • Work in partnership with the police to prevent child exploitation and minimise youth offending.
  • Liaise with local police to ensure that they prioritise the crimes that have the most impact on crimes impacting our localities whether shoplifting, antisocial behaviour or burglary
  • Campaign to keep a visible police presence on our streets and by restoring public access to police stations in addition to maintaining contact on line and by phone.
  • Encourage police contact with all types of local community group to reflect the diverse ethnic and age structure of the borough.
  • Ensure that council services are designed to provide the maximum security for those using our streets, open spaces and leisure
