Garden Waste
Garden waste was once collected weekly at no extra cost to residents. Since the introduction of the paid collection scheme last year, uptake has been low—largely due to the additional charge, which has already risen from £70 to £77 per year. The current system is inefficient and does not meet many residents’ needs.
- Liberal Democrats will develop a more flexible and affordable alternative, allowing residents to pay for garden waste collection on an occasional or reduced basis rather than only through the full annual subscription.
Once implemented, both schemes’ pricing and participation will be regularly reviewed, with action taken to improve efficiency, value for money, and overall service quality.
