Transport
Responsibility for Public Transport rests the Mayor of London through Transport for London(TfL). Liberal Democrats believe that efficient bus and rail systems are vital to keeping our area moving and minimising congestion for the good of all. The Council should working with TfL to iron out any problems with their network for our communities.
Liberal Democrats would
- Keep the current travel concessions including the 60+ card and the Freedom Pass and look to extend their hours back to the 24 hours a day.
- Campaign to press TfL for an all year round service on the Piccadilly Line from Uxbridge
- Press TfL to provide step free access at all stations in the borough
- Press TfL to extend travel con cessions to under 25s to encourage them in the habit of using public rather than more environmentally costly private travel
- Work with the Council, the police and TfL to ensure cyclists have appropriate safe routes but in return work to ensure that cyclists use the road and cycle paths rather than the pavement
Campaign for a registration scheme for electric bikes to enhance their safety.
