Dog poo decision from Tory-run Hillingdon Council
Hillingdon's Tory led council has decided to rip all dog waste bins out of the borough in an effort to save £160,000 but £60,000 will have to be spent on cleaning up the streets.
Joseph Gaunt, LibDem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, said “the Conservative's mismanagement of the council's finances are leading to cuts in services and increased costs for residents. Most dog owners across Hillingdon are responsible but dog waste bins are already not being collected and provide an essential service”.
“I spoke to a dog walker in Ruislip Woods who said that the decision was ‘utterly ridiculous’ as litter bins and dog waste bins are already overflowing and that people will stop picking up after their pets”.
“This is a great concern to everyone in Hillingdon who should not have to suffer because the elected officers cannot manage the borough's finances and essential services”.
One local group in Ickenham is already looking to get residents to sponsor a dog waste bing in a campaign known as ‘Bin there dung that’.
We are calling on Hillingdon Council to reverse this decision and stop decreasing essential services and increasing costs for Hillingdon's taxpayers.
