Disgraceful” Levelling Up snub ignores community in Hillingdon.

The Government has failed to inject money and support local communities in Hillingdon in today’s Levelling Up funding announcement.

It comes despite Rishi Sunak’s own constituency of Richmond in Yorkshire receiving £19m of levelling up funding.

This comes at a time when Hillingdon Council has just announced a huge range of cost increases on top of the maximum annual increase to Council Tax.

Responding to the news that Hillingdon has been left out of the latest round of investment and received no levelling up funding from the Government, Liberal Democrat candidate Blaise Baquiche said:

“This Conservative Government likes to claim that they are levelling up the country, but the needs of residents of Hillingdon are being ignored.

“The people of Hillingdon have been let down today, but the Liberal Democrats will ensure that the Government’s decision does not mean we are left behind. We will never stop fighting for a fair deal for our community.”

Ian Rex-Hawkes has contacted Hillingdon Council to find out whether they even applied for any funding.
