The Liberal Democrats have selected Jonathan Banks, Ian Rex-Hawkes and Alex Cunliffe for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, Uxbridge and South Ruislip, and Hayes and Harlington respectively as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced a General Election.

Our candidates, Jonathan, Ian, and Alex, will be campaigning for action to tackle the cost of living crisis, the NHS crisis and the sewage scandal.

As part of this, they will be looking to make sure that Hillingdon Hospital gets the funding it sorely needs for its redevelopment so that Hillingdon once again has the world-class hospital that it deserves.

We have a long-standing proud liberal tradition  in Hillingdon which  has sadly been forgotten in recent years, but we are here to show that we are back and we are fighting for our local area.

As a party, the Liberal Democrats are on the up after beating the Conservatives at the May local elections and winning four stunning parliamentary by-election victories since the last General Election.

Responding to Rishi Sunak calling a General Election, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, Jonathan Banks, said:

“For years our area has been taken for granted by an out-of-touch Conservative Government that has failed to get the basics right and lurched from crisis to crisis - now it’s time for a change.

“Local health services have been brought to their knees, people’s mortgages and rent have skyrocketed and water companies have been allowed to pump their filthy sewage into our rivers and beaches. All this by a Conservative government more interested in fighting between themselves than standing up for the country.

“Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for a fair deal. It’s a vote for a party that will stand up for our community and our health services.”

Ian Rex-Hawkes, candidate for Uxbridge  and South Ruislip, added:

"For far too long the country has been presented with a broken system and told that it is the only way things can be. We are one of the only countries remaining in Europe with this type of archaic electoral system, and the important message is that change is possible, but only if you vote for parties that promise you that change. The Liberal Democrats have long been the champions of electoral reform to make sure that your vote actually matters, while the Tories and Labour want to keep the old system so that your vote is almost always wasted.

"If you want to see change, if you want the country to improve, to be better for our children and their children, then you need to vote for a party that promises and embraces that change.  If you continue to vote for the two main parties, you will continue to face a near-pointless choice at every election."
